RFSA promotes an environmentally sustainable and economically viable farm community, inside and outside the City. We want to maximize farming opportunities across all scales to preserve land and soil best suited to farming.
Priorities and Actions
Land preservation. Develop policies for long-term preservation of land most suitable for agriculture. This includes zoning, entitlement processes, and new entrepreneurial development options. Actions:
Integration of agriculture into the Northside Specific Plan.
Supporting farmers. Identify and expand existing programs that help farmers sustain natural resources. Actions:

RFSA Growers’ Forums;
Conservation cost share (USDA and CDFA);
Agritourism Conference; and
RUSD Food Hub Water use and renewable energy. Develop a strategy to ensure availability and best use of water and other natural resources in agriculture. Actions:
Free Irrigation Evaluations (RCRCD). Innovative market-based strategies. Use a market-based approach to protect natural resources.
